In Lapland the tradition of sitting by a fire, telling stories with family and friends is still alive. It is at the core of our lifestyle to share our adventures in nature over a tinpot of coffee brewing over the flames.
NOKIVALKEA is a new independent textile design collaboration from Lapland, Finland
which is inspired by those stories.

The collection derives its name from moments spent with friends and the stark contrast
of light and dark in the Arctic. (NOKI: Soot VALKEA: Fire)

With the playful prints and carefully crafted woven designs in our collections
we welcome you to share the story of Lapland with us!

About NOKIVALKEA
Our TEAM
Annika Konttaniemi

Originally from south of Finland, Lapland has been Annika’s home since 2003.

As an artisan weaver and knitting enthusiast her designs start and end with a deep love of Lapland and natural materials. In her home studio she designs artisan textiles which are inspired by Arctic nature and seasonal color spectrums.

Living in Lapland is part of her design philosophy, as the contrasting seasons matches her inner world and captures her imagination.

Reetta Forsman

As a print designer, I observe nature continuously.

Being born and raised in Lapland my work reveals a deeply personal interpretation of local features.

Based on that thought, all prints are inspired by the forms of arctic hills and the spirit of the Arctic.
